Can Catholics be cremated?
Yes, the Vatican approved of cremation in 1963. Do I have to be Catholic to be inurned at St Peter’s? No, you do not have to be Catholic to be inurned at St Peter’s. The Columbarium is open to all. What is included in purchasing niche inurnment rights? Your one-time purchase guarantees the permanent right to place the cremated remains of up to two designated individuals in the niche. Included in your purchase is the Perpetual Care Fee, which guarantees permanent maintenance of the Columbarium (meaning no surprise upkeep fees!). How much does a niche cost? Is a payment plan available? Please see summary of prices sheet to see the different options available. We now have included a 12-month payment plan via credit or debit card. |
Are there extra costs at the time of inurnment? Payment for the opening and closing of the niche as well as payment for memorializing the niche front will be required at the time of inurnment. These payments cannot be made in advance. What are the niche dimensions? How big should my urn/s be? The niches are 11 7/8" x 11 7/8" x 11 7/8." If purchasing two urns to occupy one niche, each urn should be no larger than 5.9" wide and approximately 11.5" tall to ensure they fit. What if I purchase rights to a niche but change my mind? Contact the Parish Office to arrange for a refund. How do I secure my niche? Please book an appointment with the Parish Coordinator through the Parish Office during office hours. |
